Passage for this week: 1 Corinthians 13:1-7
Resource: Pray The Word Podcast by David Platt

How to use this resource: The questions below should be read after you and your family have spent time listening to the resource, and after you have had time to read through the passage carefully and slowly. Following your family time discussion (using the questions below, or your own questions regarding this text), close in prayer and ask your kids how you can be praying for them and let them know how they can be praying for you as parents.

Family Devotional Question For This Week:

1.     What stands out to you the most from reading this passage? What did you learn that is new to you from this passage? What did you learn that caused you to remember something you’ve known, or what has been reinforced from reading this passage?

2.The resource this week is mainly a prayer through this passage. After we have seen through 1 Corinthians how we are to be a church that functions and operates as a body, how does love play a factor in this operation? What does this passage show us about love that is revealed through Christ’s example to the church?
(Potential answers: Pauls flow and augmentation from the previous chapters and the beginning of chapter 13 comes to a close in his argument that the church must operate with the unity and humility of Jesus Christ as our example (first) and (second) that we are to serve one another with what God has given us because of the love that Christ has shown us! If we exist to make Jesus Christ known locally and globally, we MUST be mission-minded and execute this mission out of love and in the ways that Paul explains it in these few verses for us today!

Prayer Prompts For This Week:

 – Pray that God would saturate our lives with His patience, kindness, and that God would keep us from all envy and all boasting. Pray for God to make us content.
 – Pray that God would help us to bear all things, to believe His word, to hope in His word’s security and promises to those who are His, and to hold fast and hope to Christ and to endure as a result of this hope and love.
 – Continue to pray for one another and write down or remember the requests of each person. Either have one person pray over each request, or delegate those prayer requests so that each person prays for something or someone specific.
