Family Devotional Question For This Week:
1. What stands out to you the most from reading this passage? What did you learn that is new to you from this passage? What did you learn that caused you to remember something you’ve known, or what has been reinforced from reading this passage?
2.How can affliction or pain, suffering and tragedy be used from this passage for something that is good?
(Potential answers: This passage teaches us that life will certainly not be devoid of pain, tragedy, or loss. The comfort of the Lord through His presence in our lives or the lives of those who have followed Him for many years is meant to sustain those who are suffering. the proactive and positive effect that comfort may be the reason for could be – as this passage teaches us – for the comfort we can offer to others who are going through the very same tragedies we ourselves have gone through! so there are some things we are given and some circumstances we go through for the purpose of providing comfort and care to others who may go through the very same thing in their lives. Be present and persistent when you hear of a circumstance in someone else’s life that you yourself have been through already so that the God of all comfort may reveal himself to that other person!)
3.How have you ever been comforted by another brother or sister in Christ before in moments of need?
(Potential answers: Reflect personally on ways that other Christians have been great influences and reflections of the Love of God in your lives.)
Prayer Prompts For This Week:
– Pray for God’s comfort to shine through His Word and the words and actions of your church community as you allow them to comfort and care for you during times of suffering or hardship.
– Pray that you would not be kept from offering to others the wisdom and counsel of God’s Word in encouraging and comforting ways from when you endured and suffered through hardships. your presence in the midst of suffering can be just as comforting as well.
– Continue to pray for one another and write down or remember the requests of each person. Either have one person pray over each request, or delegate those prayer requests so that each person prays for something or someone specific.
