ABOUT US

Our Philosophy:

At Idlewild Baptist Child Development Center, we believe that a child is one of God's greatest and most precious gifts. With His guidance, our goal is to train children to develop and grow in a positive manner in all areas of their lives. Caring for, nurturing and loving your children is not just our job, but is our calling in order to benefit and prepare children in a Christian environment.

All of the staff at Idlewild Baptist Child Development Center love children and consider it a wonderful privilege to care for and to love your child.

We have been a member of the North Carolina Baptist Church Weekday Education Association (NCBCWEA) since 2011.

PROGRAMS

INFANTS

Our Infant Program at Idlewild Baptist CDC provides a warm, welcoming environment where your infant will grow from your bundle of joy to a bundle of curiosity. Teachers spend lots of time cuddling your child and talking with them in order to build a bond of trust and security. With a low staff-to-child ratio we ensure that your baby’s needs are met. Our play area is filled with toys and books to increase your baby’s thirst for knowledge in the world around them. Their days will be spent in a home-like setting for learning and meaningful partnerships with parents. This is the cornerstone of our curriculum.

TODDLERS

Our Toddlers class is oozing with excitement, fun and creative thoughts! Students engage in outdoor learning that explores nature at its best. The classroom environment has a small teacher-to-child ratio. Our teachers practice active listening and involve each child in social and emotional development. In the toddlers classroom all children learn through play and are encouraged to discover their own interests. Our curriculum of learning is based around the NC Foundation. The goal in the toddlers classroom is to assist in the development of each student’s gross and fine motor skills. Each day we welcome our children into our Christian environment with prayer and Bible stories.

2s, 3s AND 4s

Our small student-to-teacher ratio provides plenty of opportunity for exploring, creativity and use of imagination. We make learning exciting and there is never a dull moment in our class! We also focus on developing social and emotional skills through play. We love acting out different skits such as "The Three Little Pigs," "Goldilocks" and "The Three Bears." We also use an app called "Class Dojo" which allows families to see pictures and videos of what their children are doing throughout the day. The Pre-K is all about helping children wonder what they want to be when they grow up. Our main goal with the Pre-K classes is to provide a safe, loving and nurturing environment in which your children can have the greatest learning experiences possible.

AFTER SCHOOL

Our focus is to provide opportunities to excel with academic and social development. The classroom environment is based on Christian principles so we teach our children God’s word and watch them grow. Each day, we incorporate ideas from the students as we provide homework assistance, community field trips, Bible lessons, or special projects. Children are encouraged to use math, science, language arts, social studies, and life skills to problem solve. IBCDC’s schedule reflects research that states children need time for gross motor development daily. Therefore, ample time is provided to play indoors and/or outdoors. Mignon McLaughlin, journalist and author, states: "Only where children gather is there any real chance of fun." IBCDC is the place to find fun.
